Continúa la temporada de premios de este año, y tocó el turno de los Critics’ Choice Awards 2018, donde triunfó la producción ‘La Forma del Agua’ del cineasta mexicano Guillermo del Toro, quien repitió como Mejor Director.
A diferencia de la 75 edición de los Globos de Oro, donde la prensa extranjera reconoció como Mejor Película a ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’, la Asociación de Críticos de Retransmisiones Cinematográficas (Broadcast Film Critics Association) se decantó por la cinta ganadora del León de Oro en el Festival de Cine de Venezuela del 2017, y que obtuvo el 98% de aprobación por parte de los especialistas.
‘La Forma del Agua’ también se llevó los premios a Mejor Producción y Mejor Banda Sonora, estando ambientada en los tiempos de la Guerra Fría, donde en un laboratorio secreto de los Estados Unidos surge el amor entre una criatura acuática y una mujer muda. Contando con las actuaciones de Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stuhlbarg y Octavia Spencer, la cinta es una fuerte candidata en los próximos Premios Oscar.
